I have a small obsession. Well, maybe it’s a large one. I LOVE YouTube. Not only do I love the Tube that You’s, but I love watching my favourite beauty gurus on YouTube. I just cannot get enough. This leads me into today’s blog. I have decided to take a YouTube “tag” video and blog my answers. What is a tag video? Well, a tag video is when someone creates a “themed” list of questions or activity, they answer these questions themselves or film this activity, and then they tag people that they know to also do it. Now, I do not film videos for public consumption ( I am pretty sticky about my privacy), but I certainly want to take part in this holiday themed tag; “Winterlicious Tag”. Enjoy!
1) Favourite winter nail polish?
I couldn’t possibly pick just one for this season, but I was able to trim it down to four. My choices from left to right are: Orly “Rage”- a beautiful rose gold foil, Essie “Carry On”- a deep blackened burgundy/red, Nicole by OPI “A Gold Winters Night”- a fine rose gold glitter top coat with gold and blue/green stick glitter, ELF “Gold Star”- a chunky hexagonal gold glitter top coat.
2) Favourite winter lip product?
I have raved about these in the past, and my obsession is still running strong. I have noticed that I am leaning more toward the deep and rich colours for lips this winter which can always be tricky as this is always the season your lips get very dry. Not only that, but I am an extremely busy woman and I cannot stand having to touch up my lipstick every hour. No way. That’s where these beauties come in. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stains are everything you could ask for in a lip product, they provide intense colour and moisture while the stain remains for hours and hours. The ones I have used the most? “Crush”- a vampy crushed berry, and “Romantic”- a cherry day red.
3) Most worn winter clothing piece/ accessory?
This one is easy. Scarves. Anyone who has ever met me knows that I wear one every day. I have about 30 scarves, all from different stores or gifted to me. This picture only shows a fraction of what I own.
4) Favourite winter scent?
I have worn Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant for years and years during the fall/ winter. I don’t think it could possibly be a more perfect scent. It is described as a mix of cinnamon, cardamom, and mango. The staying power is insane, it’s such a rare find that no one smells like me, and the compliments are abounding. Drawback? It’s insanely expensive. I search the magical interwebs for deals and if I can find it less than $85 a bottle I’ll stock up and buy tonnes. It was discontinued in 1996-ish so there will also be a day when I will no longer be able to find it. Sad face.
5) Favourite winter candle?
Of course we all love the smells of baked good around this time of year, but there is one scent that instantly brings floods of memories for me. That is The Body Shops “Silver Fir” home fragrance oil. As soon as I smell it I think of my little girl ripping open her gifts on Christmas morning. I exclusively burn this home fragrance oil the week of Christmas, so I can preserve that warm fuzzy feeling. I have a huge bottle, but I dread the day it runs out because it is also discontinued.
6) Favourite winter beverage?
I never really have been one of those people that runs out to buy Christmas themed beverages at their local coffee shop. I could also live without egg nog. One drink that I drink almost nightly with my daughter before bed is Celestial Seasonings “Sleepytime” Tea. I have a Keurig, so it makes the tea-making process even easier.
7) All time favorite Christmas/Holiday movie?
Easy! Every single year since it was released in 1988 my family and I have sat down on Christmas Eve and watched “Scrooged”. I am madly in love with Bill Murray, and I kid you not at the end of the movie when he starts singing “Put a Little Love in your Heart” I tear up.
8) Favorite Christmas/Holiday song?
Stevie Wonder. Nuff said. Listen and try not to cry.
9) Favorite Holiday food/treat?
I know everyone says this about their moms stuffing, but NO ONE makes better stuffing than my mom. I have eaten many a different stuffing in my time, and never have I found one that compares to my moms. Nom nom nom….
10) What is your favorite Christmas Decoration this year?
This year I received a lovely early Christmas present from my parents. They had made me a light up ice cube/ block thingy that looks like a glowing present. I love home made gifts so much, and it is so pretty.
11) What’s at the top of your Christmas list?
I know it sounds so cliched, but seriously nothing. I have everything I need, and I am more excited to watch my daughter open her gifts. I have sat and tried thinking of something, and it escapes me. How about world peace? Can I ask for that?
12) What are your plans for the holidays this year?
We like to keep Christmas pretty simple, so it’s going to see my parents Christmas Eve, and my husbands parents Christmas Day. We don’t exactly enjoy traveling, so that isn’t something we do around the holidays. I am most looking forward to Christmas morning, after my daughter opens all of her presents and we all have time to snuggle in our jammies. D’awwwww!
There you go- the Winterlicious tag! I tag all of you Alkeme Beauty fans out there!

About the perfumes there’s so much to say…i should start another blog and talk only about this..they are my “universo parallelo”..yes, a parallel universe ( and it’s not about the Red Hot Chili Peppers song )…But i can shortly say: no matter how much they cost, they must follow who you are, and they don’t need to hit the noses of the people you might have around you. No synthetics, only scent…and emotions. Did you ever try Séville à l’Aube – (L’Artisan Parfumeur?)
thank you again…and let me know..:)
No I have not tried that perfume, I should look into it!
Thank you so much for reading!

Thank you for following my blog. I like this “tag” idea. When I was a teenager I always enjoyed reading the profile questions that pop stars got asked in 90′s music magazines and then writing my own answers to them in a diary every 6 mnths. This is like a grown up version of recording the things you like but we are able to share them with everyone!
That perfume sounds as if it smells totally enchanting and the bottle is adorable.
Cool present light as well!

I am so glad you like the glass block. For those in Canada, these ice blocks are specially made for Rona for placing lights into – a great homemade present that is easy to create. Maureen
Thanks for dropping by and liking my new post.
My favourite winter food warmer: Homemade pea and ham soup. Sounds very homesy/mumsy I know, but you can’t beat a bowl on a cold night.
